  | At a recent Team Management Systems (TMS) breakfast event in Singapore, participants heard how one of the World's Most Admired Companies (Fortune 2010) grow their people.
In a case study presentation, Mr Jacob David, Site Training Partner at Novartis Singapore, and Ms Caroline Hollindrake, Assistant Director at the Professional Development Centre at the British Council shared how Novartis Singapore, a world leader in pharmaceuticals, develops high-performing teams using the Team Management Profile (TMP).
Jacob and Caroline used the TMP with the Quality Department consisting of 55 Associates as part of a team development initiative. The objectives of the programme were firstly, for leaders and team members to better understand their team’s strengths and characteristics and secondly, to use this information to target performance improvement areas.
| As Jacob explained, the feedback from the Team Management Profile enabled the team members to understand themselves better and, more importantly, gain a deeper understanding of the capabilities of their team members. This insight proved valuable as it prompted discussion around what the team was expected to do and helped towards establishing better role clarity and accountability – both critical given the division operates in an environment with some of the most stringent compliance controls in the world.
Reflecting on the whole process, the division reported seeing tangible outcomes including:
A more productive and higher performing group
A breakdown in barriers to communication within and across teams
A sense of energy and shared purpose evident within the division
A team on the right track with clear performance expectations
Thank you again Jacob and Caroline for generously sharing your insights into how you applied the TMS tools and techniques to build even better teams! And thank you all our valued accredited clients, and members of the HR/L&D and business community, who attended.
